Welcome on (m)otherboard

Hello!
We’re honored you’re interested in (m)otherboard and we aim for these transmissions to be a delight to your inbox during times that will challenge us all.
We're building something of a punk collective using creativity and community to grow new pathways forward. We've added our community compact to our site so you can read more deeply about how we plan to build. You're here because, like us, you believe in bending the arc of technology away from individual convenience and towards the collective good. "Collective good" is our north star, and you're now part of shaping what that means and how we get there. Here's how:
- Share your voice by responding to our 5-minute provocation that's more conversation starter than survey. Your response will help weave connections between visionaries, builders, and change makers across the globe who are imagining and creating a more equitable digital future.
- Learn about (m)otherboard’s flagship project A People’s History of Tech: The Mobile Phone, an open-source and open-culture storytelling project gathering a collective history (your stories!) of the real human impact of technology. You can peruse the history we have already collected and contribute your stories with short and sweet prompts. Our goal with this project is to locate our place in a more inclusive and diverse history of technology so we can expand our imaginative capacity to imagine more collective visions for the future of technology. The project takes many form online as an explorable archive and as interactive exhibits installled around the world. Below are some photos from our installations over the last year.

A People's History of Tech, installed at Sundance, SXSW, and The Conference in 2024.
We'll be back soon with more ways to get involved. Your responses to the provocation will help shape what comes next.
And if you're already convinced, and would like to join as a supporter, you can offer a tax-deductible contribution here.
Over and out,
The God(m)others
