Next Book Club “Imagination: A Manifesto” and a conversation with Ruha Benjamin

Dear (m)otherboard friends and allies,

In the final pages of our first book club selection We Just Build Hammers, author and god(m)other Coraline Ada Ehmke asks us if we’re ready to build a future where technology and society evolve and thrive together. She issues a call for collective imagination, which leads us to our next book, Imagination: A Manifesto, by Ruha Benjamin.

Dr. Benjamin's manifesto argues that we're living through an imagination battle, which feels more real everyday. It's the perfect next step as we build the new canon, together.

Dr. Benjamin is a transdisciplinary scholar, writer and educator, currently Professor of African American Studies at Princeton University, and Founding Director of the Ida B. Wells JUST Data Lab—to name just a few of her professional accomplishments.

AND—hold onto your books, friends—because we'll kick off our first book club gathering with Dr. Benjamin joining us in conversation on Zoom as our special guest for the evening.

SAVE THE DATE:

  • Session 1: August 26 8–9:30pm EDT with Dr. Benjamin as our special guest!
  • Session 2: September 9th 8-9:30 EDT with members only.
